Developmental meets offer all swimmers an opportunity to compete, regardless of their times or ability. B meets are held on Wednesday nights during the regular season.

Any swimmer on the team is welcome to participate except for those who placed first, second, or third in an event at the A meet held the previous Saturday. As a result, B meets often have several “heats” per event. Ribbons are awarded per event rather than per heat, so if you see your child come in first in his or her heat but come home with a third-place ribbon, that means two swimmers in other heats in the same event were faster.

We require that all B meet swimmers sign up in advance for what events they would like to swim at the upcoming Wednesday meet. We use the online Swim Manager web site to allow parents to register their swimmers. Swimmers have until Tuesday at 12pm to sign up for events for the Wednesday meet. If your swimmer does not register for a B-Meet event, but still attends the B-Meet, then he/she will swim with the slowest, unseeded heat. Download this help file to learn how to register for B-Meets.

We will print cards only for those swimmers who signed up. In addition, as noted above, if you are an 8-and-under swimmer, you must get approval from a coach to sign up for fly or breast. Finally, don’t worry – the coaches will still talk to swimmers to encourage them to do events that they may be nervous about as we have done in past years.

Four CSL B meets are scheduled each season and one meet with a non-CSL team. B meets are not scored for team points. An individual medley event may be scheduled at B meets, time permitting.

Ribbons are awarded for 1st through 6th place in each “B” meet event - other participants may receive a participation ribbon that recognizes their swim regardless of place (time permitting for the meet).
