Swim Group Allocations

Hello FMST Parents,

It is shaping up to be a fantastic swim season - we have had a great response to from both returning families and new families this year. In addition, we have a very excited coaching team that is keen to get underway. One of my top priorities is to ensure that children receive high-quality, focused coaching with an emphasis on stroke correction and race technique. For this to occur, I have gone to great lengths to ensure that swimmers are matched with other swimmers of a similar ability.

There are three separate training times 4:00pm - 4:50pm5:00pm - 5:50pm, and 6:00pm - 6:50pm. I have established a series of developmental squads for the younger swimmers on the team. The developmental groups operate in lane 6, and are spread across the three training slots to maximise the attention they receive. The remainder of the squad has been divided into Junior (4:00pm - 4:50pm), Intermediate (5:00pm - 5:50pm) and Senior (6:00pm - 6:50pm) training groups. In allocating the swimmers to these training slots, I have considered both age and ability. As I do not have visibility of all swimmers' times, I may refine this allocation over the first few weeks of training. If this is the case you will be clearly advised of the changes.

I have distributed a spreadsheet via our email group that provides the training allocation by alphabetical listing and by time. Please note that because I have tried extremely hard to keep siblings to the same or adjacent training slots, I do not have the flexibility to make preferential changes. Further changes will only be made based on swimmer ability.

Morning training will commence on June 26, 2016. I will provide an update of training times and the morning training approaches.
