Saturday Meet Info, Relay Carnival Info, and Few Other Things

Hi Squids!
Despite all the crazy rain, we sure had a fun Wednesday meet – what a great dance party, Squids! Thanks to everyone who braved the weather and stayed through those multiple heats of IM at the very end! We really appreciate all our volunteers and swimmers!
Also, I want to thank you (parents) and your Squids for the last two days of practice – for the most part, we saw a good change in the kids behavior already and it was SO awesome. We rewarded them with some end-of-practice fun today. Thank you for helping us help you! :)

SATURDAY A MEET INFORMATION – AT Burke Center, please arrive by 7am.
The lineup for Saturday was sent out via the team's Google Group. We are swimming the Burke Center Penguins this week. Please arrive by 7am for warm-ups. Our warmups will start at 720am. As always, if you are not present by the end of warmups, we will remove you from the meet. Our THEME is NERDS! Please come dressed in your most nerdiest of nerds outfits!

As you now know, when both teams agree, we are able to run ‘exhibition’ heats for free and back. This week we have an opportunity for exhibitions in 6&U, 8&U, 9/10, and 11/12 in both free and back. Again, this is just a fun, less stressful way for some of our new or younger swimmers to get a chance to be at a Saturday meet. If you see your child is slated to swim and you will NOT be at the meet, please let me know ASAP (especially since you might not have been expecting them in the lineup). Thanks!

The address of the pool is:
5701 Roberts Parkway
Burke, VA 22015
RELAY CARNIVAL – SUNDAY, July 12th at Sugarland Run, arrive at 715am
The lineup for for relay carnival was sent out via team Google Group again - changes are highlighted in yellow. Our warmup will begin at 730am in Lanes 2 and 3.
Please find our team area on arrival and we’ll head to warmup together. Please ensure you have your FMST Team Cap to wear (if you wear one)!
The address of the pool is:
200 Greenfield Court
Sterling, VA 20164
*Parking will be hectic so please plan to drop your swimmer off at the ‘drop off circle’ near the pool and then look for parking.
Parents of relay carnival swimmers – we will need one timer for Lane 4 for the duration of the meet. If you are able to volunteer, check in with Coach Dani upon arrival. We can do two or three shifts, if needed.
PRACTICE SCHEDULE for Divisionals and All Stars
Just a heads up – next week will be our last week of regular season practice. After that, only kids swimming in Divisionals will be required to attend practice and our practice times will shift a bit. You can expect that if your swimmer typically swims in Saturday A Meets, they will likely be in Divisionals. We plan to get that lineup out next weekend, so please let me know if you aren’t available for the Divisionals meet.
Also, as a reminder, only kids who swim in Divisionals are able to qualify for the All Star meet – that qualification is earned by your place in the Divisionals meet. After all four of the Divisional meets are completed, the league will rack and stack the results and kids who placed in the top 15 or so (sometimes more) qualify for the All Star meet. No earlier/previous times can count for All Stars – only your swim/times from the Divisionals meet that year.

Our last meet of the season is also our last home meet - please plan to be there to finish out the season and also because we plan to have our annual team picture after we finish the swim meet. More info to follow!
BANQUID (banquet for squids), Tuesday July 28th at the O Club
Be on the look out for an email from our Board about the Banquid - as always, we'll be calling for registration for those able to attend and some volunteers to help! Hope you're all able to make it. It's always a fun night!

If you have any questions, just let me know!
Coach Kristina
