FMST Eligibility Rules

I remind everyone that FMST is a private organization and there are special eligibility rules that we must follow:
  • First, if your family is eligible to join the Fort Myer Officers Club (FMOC), then you MUST join the pool.  Electing to not join the pool is not an option.  Team by-laws state that "Swimmer eligibility is a function of the eligibility of the swimmer's family for membership at the FMOC.  In the case of families who are eligible to join the FMOC pool, they must join that pool, and adhere to FMOC membership regulations."
  • Second, FMST is allowed to carry a limited number of "FMOC-Ineligible families to participate..."
  • Third, FMST must maintain a ration of 90% FMOC-Member to 10% FMOC-Ineligible.
  • Fourth, the prioritization rule states that "Priority for membership shall be given to swimmers returning from the previous year, and new memberships will be accorded on a "first-come, first-served" basis to swimmers meeting the membership criteria."
Hence, the prioritization  order is (1) Member Returning, (2) Ineligible Returning, (3) Member New, (4) Ineligible New.

There is no priority given to a family that is eligible and does not to join the pool.

Know that FMST is in the process of collecting pool pass numbers (more guidance will follow).  FMST is required to submit a roster of names / pool pass data to the FMOC.

The take away is that those not in compliance are skewing the 90/10 ratio, and possible subject to early dismissal from the team.
