Hi squids... or should I say awesome cold-weather-troopers!?

This week has been quite a interesting start to the season with the rain, cold temps, and chilly swimming. You all have been such troopers and we really appreciate those of you who have been sticking it out and giving it your best, despite your purple lips and shivers! An especially huge shout out to our handful of 5 and 6 year olds who have managed about 20-30 minutes of swimming almost every day. You guys rock!

PRACTICE TODAY (6/5)
Just a heads up, today we plan to work on 'meet flow' outside of the pool (going over where you go during meets, where you stand before you start swimming, etc) in advance of our time trials/mock meet next Saturday. Then we will be working on starts/turns (for those age groups where that applies). The kids will be in and out of a pool a little more today once we do get in, but if you want to bring your squid for the out of the pool activities and then head out - that's ok too. Totally your choice on if your squid can manage the weather/temps or not. We will do this again next Friday too.

EVENT REMINDERS
Also, a quick reminder that next Saturday is our Time Trials and Team Picnic immediately after. We had a great suggestion from a veteran squid (thanks, Caroline O-N!) on doing Big and Little introductions at the Picnic so that it was less hectic than the first meet and so the coaches were able to focus on making proper introductions... Sooooo we are working to get that done! Just one more, really good reason (aside from all the usuals!) to ensure you are at the annual team Picnic! More info on that to follow, just wanted to give you a heads up that we planned to do that. If you can't make it, no worries, we'll be sending everything out by email and you'll have another chance to get connected - but try your best to be there!

See you later today and have a great last-swim-weekend-off for the summer! Anyone got anything fun planned? I'll be u early and at the Arlington Civitan Flea Market held the first Saturday the month in the WL parking garage... my last one until September (unless I scramble to get there before they start packing up after our swim meets, which has been known to happen). :)

Best,
Coach Kristina
