A Favor and Wednesday Meet Info

Hi Squids!

Hope you all had a great 4th of July holiday weekend – whether you were with us at a rainy swim meet, a holiday parade, or vacationing somewhere awesome. I can’t decide of the hot, humid weather is worse than standing on the pool deck in the rain… good thing we’ve had a little of both this week! :)

First, I’d like to ask for your help. Our 9/10 and 11/12 practice has been really challenging this season – partly because there are so many kids, partly because many of them are new, and partly because of their age. We have had a really hard time getting/keeping them focused, listening to our instruction, and with general respect of the coaches. I know that many of you aren’t able to stay for the duration of practice, so I would invite you to do that if you’d like to see whether your Squid is contributing to the challenges we are having or not. Either way, I respectfully ask that you have a chat with your Squid tonight, if they attend this practice, and remind them that hard work, listening ears, and respect of the coaches are required every day. Really appreciate your help in allowing us to have more productive practices, a bit more fun with the kiddos, and little bit less yelling. Thanks!

WEDNESDAY B MEET INFORMATION – July 8 AT Ft. Myer
Tomorrow we swim at home vs the Saratoga Stingrays. Our warm up will begin at 5pm, please plan to arrive by 430pm. The meet will start at 6pm. I’d like to have our pool set up before the visiting team arrives, so if there are any parents that can come early, it would be really appreciated!

Few general meet reminders: we may not do IMs at B meets as that is dependent on time, but sign up if you are interested. The order of the meet this week will be Breast, Free, Back, Fly. Each swimmer will be allowed to swim three events plus IM (if we are able to get them in with timing) for the Wednesday meet.

Our theme for the meet tomorrow is TOGA’s! Find your best bed sheet and wrap yourself up!

They are calling for more storms/rain – plan to be at the pool unless you hear from us. We’ll do what we can to get the meet in and hope the rain/storms hold off!

SATURDAY A MEET – July 11 AT Burke Center Penguins
Our meet this Saturday is at Burke Center Penguins - Our warmups will begin promptly at 720am. Please ensure you are on time (arriving by 7am). The theme is NERDS! My second favorite. Lineup/more info to follow later this week.

If you haven’t already alerted us as to your availability, please be sure to let me know!

RELAY CARNIVAL – SUNDAY, July 12th at Sugarland Run
Attached is the updated relay carnival lineup – the changes from the previously one I sent out are highlighted in yellow. If you’re swimmer is slated to participate and their status has changed, please let me know ASAP. More info to follow later this week.

If you have any questions, just let me know!

Best,
Coach Kristina
