Thanks to everyone who stayed up late on the 4th and still made the meet (including my coaching crew, retired squid volunteers, parent cheering squad, our team rep, officials, table workers, and timers – by the way, if you haven’t seen our head timer, Strat in a tutu, please see Coach Kristina for photo evidence). No records to report this week, but lots of improved times – keep up the great work, Squids!

WEDNESDAY SWIM MEET – at Ft. Myer (arrive at 445pm)
Our Wednesday night meet is against the Arlington Knights of Columbus/Holy Mackerels! Please plan to arrive at the pool by 4:45pm, dressed in your favorite sports team gear. We’ll snap a quick photo and get in for warm-ups. Meet will get underway by 5:30pm. As a reminder, if you placed first, second, or third in Saturday meets you are not eligible to swim those events on Wednesday.

In addition, you MUST sign up for the events you like to swim. We will not make exceptions this week for anyone who didn’t sign up in advance – no sign up, no swim! The signup sheet will be posted until Tuesday afternoon (like 2:30pm). If for some reason you miss sign up, please email Coach Kristina – but please aim to not defer to this as your sign up option.

We will aim to get in some heats of IM at the end of the meet as well – so please sign up for them, even if you think there is only a slim chance you will swim them. In general, sign up and opt not to swim verse the other way around!

SATURDAY SWIM MEET – at Ft. Myer, arrive by 645am.
Our meet on Saturday is against Ashburn Village. The theme is Circus!

Line-ups will be sent for the meet on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. Please be sure you have notified the coaches if you are not available to swim. We have already started the lineup so the earlier the better on notifications. Thanks to everyone who has been so great about this!

As a reminder, we do ask that everyone – whether they are slated to swim or not – attend our home meets. Arrival for non-swimmers is around 8am. Also, this Saturday we will be doing another early senior send off for Austin Vander Ley before he heads to the Citadel. Please bring flowers to make his bouquet. We’ll ask the younger boys to come down and help send him off also before we get the meet underway.

Immediately following the conclusion of our swim meet on Saturday we will get the Squids together for the team picture. Please be sure everyone has their team suit for this. Following the picture, we will head over to the grassy hill by the tennis courts for our annual FMST picnic. More info to follow.....

The CSL Relay Carnival is on Sunday. We aren’t sure of our warmup times just yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted – you can expect it will probably be around 7am or so. It’s a long day and parents are encouraged to bring chairs to sit in and/or chairs for the kids in the team area. We have been in touch with everyone who is slated to swim.

The meet is held at Sugarland Run pool at:
200 Greenfield Court
Sterling, VA 20164
